Her work extended beyond the confines of Earth's orbit. She was an advocate for science education and devoted her post-NASA career to encouraging young minds to explore the wonders of science and technology. After retiring from NASA in 1987, Ride continued to contribute significantly to education and science. She co-founded Sally Ride Science, a company aimed at inspiring and empowering students, particularly girls, to pursue STEM fields. Through this initiative, she authored numerous books aimed at making science more accessible and engaging for young learners.
